Chapter 722 - 709: He’s Still Alive (Part 4)
Chapter 722 - 709: He’s Still Alive (Part 4)
With a sense of foreboding, the two subordinates returned to the gate duty post. Before they could even push the door open, a few people walked out from inside and halted their steps.
"Where the hell did you two come from?"
The series of encounters today had already made the two subordinates like birds startled by the mere twang of a bowstring, not to mention now that they were surrounded by an array of knives and guns, just the formation was enough to frighten them out of their wits.
"No, no, please! Brothers, He Lei sent us, said... said that later when Liu Fugui comes, we should hold him up." The subordinates honestly explained their purpose, keeping their heads down the whole time, not daring to look the others in the eye.
After hearing it, the other side’s subordinates exchanged glances and, to be cautious, used a handheld radio to confirm with He Lei. Once they received his affirmative answer, they didn’t make things difficult for the two.
Before long, the urgent honking of a car was heard outside the gate.
"You two better stay sharp, if you screw this up, huh!"
The other side sneered at the two subordinates, making a throat-slashing gesture. The latter nodded without daring to speak much: "Brothers, don’t worry, we’ll handle this."
Liu Fugui was now in a sorry state; the windshield of the car he was driving had shattered during the previous shootout. The violent snow mixed with cold wind mercilessly pounded his face.
After a journey marked by escape, the person now appearing in front of the two subordinates was already white-haired and red-faced, making it hard for anyone to discern his expression.
"Are you... are you Liu Fug... no, Mr. Liu?"
Liu Fugui’s mind was entirely on his son Liu Yunpeng now. The latter was weak and exhausted, and with the cold wind raging on the road, he was worried his son might catch a illness. He hurried back to the factory in hopes of finding a doctor. Under such circumstances, how could he notice the obvious anomalies in the two subordinates in front of him?
"Nonsense! I am Liu Fugui, what’s going on? Open the damn door for me." Liu Fugui, who used to present a calm and detached demeanor before his subordinates, never appeared as impatient and irritable as he did now.
The two subordinates were even more bewildered and at a loss due to his sudden outburst, standing dumbly in place without any movement. This made Yang Buwei, who was watching the activity at the gate through binoculars from the second floor, fuming with rage.
"Damn it, Lei, what kind of people did you find, are they reliable? Why aren’t they moving?" Yang Buwei handed the binoculars to He Lei beside him, cursing.
This concerned his own future and status, so He Lei was naturally keen on handling it. He quickly raised the binoculars to inspect, and indeed, his arranged guards were just as Yang Buwei had said, stupidly frozen in place, making He Lei terribly annoyed.
"Damn, useless, all of them are useless waste, I’m going down!"
"Hold on!" Yang Buwei stretched out a hand to stop He Lei in his tracks: "What’s the use of you going down now? By the time you get there, Liu Fugui, that old fox, might have already sensed something amiss."
"Then what the hell do you suggest we do?" Seeing the duck slipping away from the mouth, how could He Lei not be anxious?
That wasn’t the main problem either; just now Yang Buwei had made a promise to Spring Xiu to capture Liu Fugui alive.
If the two he sent ruined it, it could backfire, and he might not only miss out on any reward for helping seize the factory but could also face punishment.
Yang Buwei was also quite displeased at the moment. What seemed like an easy task had been complicated by He Lei. He held his head, pacing back and forth, and after a few seconds, reluctantly picked up the handheld radio and shouted to his subordinates: "Hey, you, immediately go out and open the door, and remind the two idiots at the gate not to act foolishly anymore! Over!"
"Understood, Brother Yang, over!"
"Hey, Brother Yang, won’t sending a stranger out create problems?"
"Lei, then you @#%$%* suggest a solution, look at the idiots you sent, can they be relied on? Now we can only take one step at a time, if nothing else works, we’re going to have to use force." Yang Buwei glared at He Lei unhappily, thinking that if it weren’t for his incompetence, a simple matter wouldn’t have been made so complicated. He thought for a moment and picked up the handheld radio again: "Listen, if Liu Fugui notices anything unusual and tries to leave, you are to act immediately and intercept him, remember, catch him alive unless necessary. Understood? Over!"
"Roger that, Brother Yang! Over!" The subordinates on Yang Buwei’s side quickly checked their weapons, feeling quite proud that just dealing with one Liu Fugui required such a mobilization.
Of course, his subordinates weren’t foolish enough to rush out all at once, Yang Buwei had made it clear that they needed to capture him alive, so they sent a representative out first.
The unfortunate soul chosen to step outside did not hesitate; as soon as he went out, he kicked pretty boy in the behind, then cursed: "Damn, what are you daydreaming about, didn’t you hear Mr. Liu tell you to watch the door? In this heavy snow, do you want Mr. Liu to catch a cold?"
This kick finally awakened the two guards as if they were possessed, their whole bodies shivered being aware of their mistake, they hurriedly apologized: "Mr. Liu, we’re really sorry, we..."
Liu Fugui glanced at the newly arrived guy, then no longer paid attention; he was solely focused on getting a doctor to check on his son. Waving impatiently from the car, he said, "Enough, shut up and open the damn door. If you keep talking, I’ll shoot you dead right now."
Saying that, Liu Fugui pulled out his gun, which not only made the two guards nervous but also made the ones inside tighten their grip on their weapons.
The gate was quickly opened, and Liu Fugui drove the car straight into the factory with a whoosh.
"Phew!" Yang Buwei, standing in front of the chairman’s office window, exhaled deeply, tossing his binoculars onto the sofa and patting his somewhat flushed face, "Damn, that was close!"
He Lei also breathed a sigh of relief: "Yeah, Brother Yang, your timely handling was spot on, otherwise capturing Liu Fugui today might not have gone smoothly at all!"
"Alright, Lei, the target has entered the net, now it’s our turn to enter the scene, you can vent your anger now, let’s go."
"Heh heh! Let’s go!" He Lei clenched his fists, making cracking sounds, and looked as if he was ready for a big fight. Yet, his current state of mind was definitely not as calm as he appeared.
His mind was a jumble of worries; the previous boastful words about making Liu Fugui suffer faced a hit when realizing he might have to directly confront the man.
Liu Fugui casually brushed away the white snow from his head, immediately pulling open the car door, leaning down to wave his hand in front of his son, who remained unresponsive, as if he were dazed, making Liu Fugui’s heart ache. Soflty, he said, "Son, it’s alright now, everything is over, we’re home. Let’s go, dad will take you to see Doctor Liu, it’s cold, and catching a cold isn’t good."
"Clap, clap, clap!" A series of soft claps were heard from behind Liu Fugui, and instinctively he turned around. He Lei accompanied by a young man with a strange face walked towards him.
"Mr. Liu, you’re indeed a good father; this scene is quite touching, wouldn’t you say, Brother Lei?" Yang Buwei had a mischievous smile on his face, a demeanor that could very well disgust anyone.
Liu Fugui was momentarily stunned seeing the two approaching, asking in confusion: "He Lei, who is this person?" (To be continued.
