Chapter 191: Witnessing A Historic Moment [Part 1]
The sun was setting in an hour.
The delegations of the Redmaw Tribe, the Grimfang Tribe, and the Ironhide Tribe had traveled non-stop to reach their destination before the sun could fully set.
They originally thought of setting up camp and taking their time to arrive the next day, but they couldn’t do that anymore.
As soon as news of the high-ranking tribes’ journey to Grimjaw Mountain had reached their ears, they ditched the idea and instead decided to travel faster. In their eyes, it was better to be a bit more exhausted than to arrive on the same day as them.
Just as Leone had mentioned, the middle-ranked tribes had an inferiority complex towards the high-ranking tribes.
Their relationship might be friendly and calm on the surface, but it didn’t change the fact that their tribes had to be extra cautious when dealing with these factions. After all, the latter could erase them from the face of the world on a whim.
"Will they take offense if we arrive at night?" Oswald, the Chieftain of the Grimfang Tribe, asked.
The Aslan Tribe and the Grimfang Tribe had clashed a few times in the past, with the latter losing every time.
Oswald would be lying if he said that he didn’t harbor grudges against the Aslan Tribe. However, he knew in his heart that Leone’s tribe only defended and that they were the aggressors.
As for the issue with the Stormhorn Tribe, it was something that he didn’t foresee.
How could he possibly know that Brann was three steps ahead of him?
Before his messengers could even return to their camp, the Stormhorn Tribe had already fled into the night and headed to Grimjaw Mountain.
"We didn’t bring a lot of people with us, so it should be fine," Duncan, the Chieftain of the Redmaw Tribe, replied. "We are not going there to wage war against them. Even if we are in the wrong, I’m sure that they will not turn us away."
"I hope so," Garen, the Chieftain of the Ironhide Tribe, commented. "I heard their chieftain is young and bold. He might throw a tantrum if we entered his domain without permission."
Each of them had only brought a hundred warriors with them, so it wouldn’t possibly be seen as an act of hostility from their side.
At the end of the day, they were still chieftains. It was normal for them to bring a retinue of warriors to protect them.
They also had a relatively positive view of Leone. After all, the tale of Leone putting Cain and Travis in their place, who once treated them as doormats, was like music to their ears.
If not for the high likelihood of the Darkmane Tribe attacking the Aslan Tribe to avenge their humiliation, they would have already formed an alliance with Leone.
Right now, the Aslan Tribe was considered as a middle-ranked tribe.
Although they didn’t want to admit it, Leone’s tribe was without question, the strongest middle-ranked tribe in the Borderlands right now.
Half an hour later, just as the colors of the sky above their heads had turned into a mix of orange and purple, they finally arrived near the entrance of the forest.
A group was already waiting for their arrival, which wasn’t a surprise.
They had sent messengers in advance to inform the Aslan Tribe a few hours ago that they were coming to prevent any misunderstandings.
Ulric and a dozen warriors of the Aslan Tribe greeted them with a smile.
"Welcome to the Aslan Tribe," Ulric said. "I know all of you have traveled far. We have prepared food and refreshments. Please come with us."
Ulric made a gesture for everyone to enter the dark forest.
As if waiting for that moment, lights suddenly lit up along the path, illuminating the surroundings.
In order to make a good impression towards his guests, Leone had constructed street lamps that used candles.
Since these street lamps would only be lit during special occasions, it wasn’t expensive to use them. In fact, these lamps were only installed a few hours ago after much deliberation from Leone and Daedalus.
Even so, it gave them the effect they wanted.
The three chieftains and their escorts were quite impressed with the illuminated path.
Aside from the street lamps, the Aslan Tribe had also widened the road by cutting the trees, ensuring the path was at least twelve meters wide.
Though, one of the major factors why the road widening project was done could be attributed to Boris’ complaints about the road being too narrow!
The giant Raptor preferred wide passages, so even the underground tunnels were built to accommodate its passing.
Fortunately, they did some renovations before the Orcs came.
Logan stood at least three-meters tall, so there was more than enough space for him to walk the underground tunnels without worrying about bumping his head along the way.
When they finally arrived at the clearing, a wide open space welcomed their sight.
Several lamps hung above their heads, illuminating the surroundings.
It looked very much like a festival, which was often hosted in towns and villages in the countryside of the Kingdom of Britannia during harvest season.
"Greetings, everyone," Leone said as soon as the three chieftains were led to the clearing. "I am Leone Frontera, the Great Chieftain of the Aslan Tribe. I am very honored with your visit, so I’ve prepared food and drinks for all of you to partake in and enjoy."
Kael then clapped his hands twice before performing his "magic trick" once more.
Chairs and tables flew down from the mountain and lined up along the clearing.
The three chieftains thought of the same thing as they watched this magical performance unfold in front of their eyes.
Was Kael able to do this in the past?
That was the question inside their heads. Though, understanding that no answers would come, they simply watched as the shaman slowly lowered his hand as the last chair fell into place.
It was a flawless performance.
Seeing the surprise on the faces of the chieftains and their escorts, Kael couldn’t help but smile smugly.
Leone and Daedalus also smirked internally because Kael was becoming an outstanding actor. Daedalus couldn’t show himself right now, so letting the shaman take the spotlight was a win-win situation for all of them.
A moment later, the warriors and the ladies brought out trays of foods and drinks, placing them on top of the tables.
Since this wasn’t the first time they did this, the preparation was done in only a short period of time.
"Chief Oswald, Chief Duncan, and Chief Garen, please join me here at my table," Leone said with a smile.
Inviting them to dine with him was a sign that he was treating them as his equals.
This immediately gave the three chieftains a good impression of the young man, whom they wanted to meet for quite some time.
Soon, the three walked up towards the stage, while Ulric asked their escorts to sit on the table and enjoy the food.
"Vlad, please join us as well," Leone called out to the younger boy, who didn’t hesitate to walk up to the stage looking like a dignified heir of the Warclaw Tribe.
Leone was very tempted to pinch the teenage boy’s cheek, but he held back. Right now, Vlad was representing the Warclaw Tribe, so he should be treated with the same respect as the chieftains of the middle-ranked tribes.
Once everyone was seated, Leone declared the start of the feast.
Something that the three tribes were more than happy to participate in.
