Chapter 26 Great Revenge Achieved
Chapter 26 Great Revenge Achieved
The night wind howled, rustling the leaves in the cornfield like countless hands clapping and cheering.
As Zhao Da Niang and Sun Lao Wai's figures disappeared into the darkness, Li Xianglian's body went limp, and the exhaustion she felt after avenging her great grudge surged up.
She leaned against Qin Rushan's chest, and tears started flowing again without her noticing. This time, it wasn't out of fear, but out of relief—the pent-up anger she had been holding in for years was finally released.
"You're crying already?" Qin Rushan looked down at her, his large hand awkwardly wiping away her tears. "Where did that fierceness go?"
Xianglian sniffed, a little embarrassed: "I'm just so happy... Rushan, I really want to go home right now, bolt the door, and sleep for three days and three nights."
"Not now."
Qin Rushan shook his head, his eyes, which always held a hint of fierceness, now filled with calculation. "That old hag just sold him, and she's feeling guilty right now. If you go back now and she sees you, won't this whole 'switching the prince for a cat' scheme be exposed? If she chases after the donkey cart with all her might and brings the culprit back, then all our efforts will have been for nothing."
Li Xianglian was startled and stiffened: "Then... what should we do? It's pitch black, and I have nowhere to go."
"Come to my place."
Qin Rushan spoke with righteous indignation, his large hand sliding down to grab her slender waist that seemed to snap with a pinch, and with a slight pull, he drew her into his arms.
The two were pressed tightly together, and through their thin clothes, Li Xianglian could clearly feel the man's intense heat that seemed to scald her.
"It's just a wall between us, a simple matter of lifting a foot."
The heat that had just subsided on Xianglian's face suddenly returned. She looked up at Qin Rushan, hesitating, "This...this isn't appropriate, is it? A man and a woman alone together, if someone sees us...they'll be drowning in their spittle..."
"Who's going to drown? I'd like to see who dares!"
Qin Rushan snorted coldly, lowered his head and leaned close to her ear, his hot breath brushing against the most sensitive part of her neck. "What? Sister-in-law, are you afraid I'll eat you up?"
Xianglian shrank back, feeling the heat of his gaze, and retorted softly, "Who's afraid... I just feel..."
"What do you think? Don't worry about it."
Rushan didn't give her a chance to dawdle. He bent down, put his arms under her legs, and picked her up in his arms.
A person weighing around 100 pounds felt as light as a ball of cotton in his arms.
He carried the person and strode back, his footsteps crunching on the corn leaves on the ground.
"Although I'm a roughneck, I know what it means to cherish a wife. I won't get serious until we're registered and have a wedding banquet. The woman I, Qin Rushan, want has to be welcomed into the house with great fanfare, like a grand sedan chair carried by eight men. Sneaking around is called adultery, and I don't do things that are beneath me."
Although these words were rough, they were like a reassuring pill, hitting Li Xianglian's heart directly.
She buried her face in Qin Rushan's neck, the pleasant scent of soap mingling with the man's unique sweat and masculine aroma.
The flavor was so strong that it made her feel incredibly at ease.
"Hmm... whatever you say."
Qin Rushan grinned from ear to ear, holding the person he cherished most in his arms, and strode across the cornfield, over the low wall, and into his own yard.
Upon entering the house, the unique atmosphere of a bachelor hits you.
The room was simply furnished, even shabby, but it was kept quite clean.
Qin Rushan didn't rush over. Instead, he picked up the tin thermos in the corner, poured in half a basin of warm water, threw in his own stiff towel, rubbed it, wrung it out, and handed it to Li Xianglian.
"Dry yourself. You got covered in dirt in the cornfield, don't make yourself itchy."
He wrung out the towel and handed it to Xianglian, but his eyes dared not glance at the bed.
At this moment, Xianglian's hair was a little messy.
A few strands of hair clung to her cheeks. The old clothes that belonged to Zhao Xiaoyun were a little too big on her; the neckline was loose, and as she wiped her face, a large patch of dazzling white skin was revealed, and her collarbones were clearly visible.
In this room filled with masculine energy, she was like a little white flower that had bloomed in the wrong place, delicate and beautiful, making Qin Rushan's throat dry.
Xianglian took the towel and hurriedly wiped her face and hands.
The room was so quiet that you could hear the crackling of the lamp wick popping and the man's increasingly heavy breathing.
"Rushan..." Xianglian called out, her voice soft and sweet.
Qin Rushan's Adam's apple bobbed, as if he had made a great decision. He suddenly turned around, plopped down on the edge of the bed, and gripped the sheets tightly with his large hands on either side of his body, veins bulging.
"sleep."
He forced out two words through gritted teeth, his voice deep and hoarse, "You sleep inside, I'll sleep outside to block the view."
Xianglian obediently moved further in and huddled in the corner.
Qin Rushan lay down fully clothed, his back to her. The two were separated by a foot of distance, yet it felt as if they were separated by thousands of mountains and rivers, or as if they were separated by only a thin sheet of paper.
This night was destined to be difficult.
The woman behind him exuded a faint fragrance that wafted into his nostrils, making Qin Rushan feel unbearably hot and bothered.
He turned over and came face to face with Xianglian's bright eyes in the darkness.
"Can't sleep?" Qin Rushan asked in a hoarse voice.
Xianglian shook her head, then nodded, and quietly reached out her small hand to grab his sleeve: "I'm afraid I'm dreaming, afraid that when I wake up I'll still be in that dark room."
Qin Rushan sighed; his mental defenses had completely crumbled.
He reached out and pulled the trembling little woman into his arms, holding her tightly.
"I told you I'm here, what's there to be afraid of?"
He said he wouldn't get serious, but his hands were getting restless.
Those large hands stroked down her back, and through the thin fabric, the heat of their palms made Xianglian tremble slightly.
Qin Rushan's kiss landed, first on her forehead, then on the tip of her nose, and finally pressed hard against her lips.
The kiss was intensely aggressive, yet the force was carefully controlled.
His tongue forcefully pried open her teeth, with a ferocious intent to devour her whole.
"Like a mountain... goodbye..."
Xianglian was breathless from the kiss, her hands weakly pushing against his chest.
Qin Rushan stopped, his forehead pressed against hers, his eyes shining frighteningly in the darkness, filled with bloodshot veins.
His hand was still causing trouble, slipping inside the hem of her clothes, lingering on that smooth skin, each touch feeling like igniting a fire.
"Sister-in-law, you're so soft!"
He whispered in her ear, his voice rough like sandpaper, "If that bastard Zhao Gang knew what he missed, he'd probably regret it to death."
Xianglian felt a tingling sensation all over her body from his touch, and could only cling tightly to his neck, like a drowning person clinging to a piece of driftwood.
That night, Qin Rushan did indeed hold onto his last line of defense. But it also left him feeling incredibly stifled.
It wasn't until dawn that the two of them finally fell asleep in each other's arms.
