Chapter 28 Who says you can't do things at night in the afternoon?
Toby said calmly, "No, it's not even 11 a.m. yet. Whether I'm coming back tonight is the reason I woke you up."
Upon hearing this, Peter's face immediately fell:
"Huh? It's only 11 o'clock? Good heavens, you must be kidding me, Toby!"
"I fought a fierce battle with the lizardmen all night yesterday, so please spare me and let me rest a little longer..."
After saying that, Peter lay down to continue sleeping soundly, but before his head even touched the pillow, Toby grabbed him by the collar of his pajamas and forcibly dragged him off the bed.
Toby didn't release Peter's collar until he dragged him back to his room.
Peter, who was lying on the floor of Toby's room like a salted fish, was about to continue complaining when he suddenly noticed someone lying next to him out of the corner of his eye.
This startled Peter, waking him from his drowsiness.
Upon closer inspection, he realized that the person lying next to him was none other than Dr. Connors, the lizardman who had tormented him the night before... oh no, he was the one who had fought him to a standstill all night!
Peter sprang to his feet, glanced down at Dr. Connors lying unconscious on the floor, then looked up at Toby, and exclaimed in delight:
"Oh Toby, you caught the lizardman? That's amazing!!"
Toby shrugged. "I wasn't planning on getting involved, but my apprentice Spider-Man cousin is such a noob, and he just happened to interrupt my date..."
"Now I'm handing him over to you. Lock him in the basement and I'll deal with him when I get back."
"As long as you don't continue to inject Dr. Connors with the lizard regeneration serum during this period, he will just be an ordinary person."
"If you still can't keep him under control like this, then I'll have to consider taking back the Spider-Man suit I gave you, which is worth tens of millions of dollars. Understand?"
After saying this, Toby didn't wait for Peter to answer whether he understood or not, turned around and pushed open the door to leave, leaving Peter in the room feeling ashamed, embarrassed, and shocked.
Peter didn't know whether he should first feel ashamed that Toby said he was bad at the game, or guilty for ruining Toby's date because of his own incompetence, or surprised that the Spider-Man suit he was wearing was worth tens of millions of dollars...
Okay, let's do them one by one.
First, let's start by keeping an eye on Dr. Connors!
Toby's round trip home took only a few minutes. By the time he returned to the amusement park, the Ferris wheel that Gwen had been on hadn't even reached the ground yet.
He deftly pulled open the Ferris wheel cabin in mid-air and quickly slipped inside like a shadow.
As soon as Toby entered, he was greeted by Gwen's beautiful figure and her warm red lips.
Hmm, it's still French style...
After a deep kiss, Gwen looked up at Toby with tears in her eyes and said, "Thank you, thank you, Toby!"
"If it weren't for you today, I really can't imagine what would have happened. I might have lost one of the most important people in my life!"
"You're my hero, Toby!"
Toby wrapped one arm around Gwen's waist and used the other to wipe her eyes. "Saving my future father-in-law is one of my responsibilities, so you don't need to thank me for it, right?"
Upon hearing this, Gwen looked at Toby with even more tenderness in her eyes.
He was still the same cold-on-the-outside-but-warm-on-the-inside man, just like when he saved me back then. He wasn't after money or sex; he was simply trying to save me!
He is so kind and great!
If Toby knew that Gwen imagined herself to be so great, he would probably say, "Don't be silly, girl. I'm not after money. It's just that your father, Sheriff Stacy, is honest and upright and has to support a family of five. I can't get any money out of him."
I'm not after sex; it's just that I don't like girls under 18.
Look, you're 18 now, and I'm already in the picture, aren't I?
Unfortunately, Gwen was unaware of all this, and from her perspective, Toby was indeed a great hero.
Then, as the Ferris wheel slowly descended, Gwen asked Toby out of curiosity, and he briefly recounted how he had just saved her father and defeated the lizard man.
Gwen was both surprised and delighted, surprised that her woman's sixth sense had indeed led her to believe that her father had encountered the lizardmen!
She was naturally happy because thankfully her boyfriend Toby was there, preventing a tragedy from happening!
When Gwen heard Toby say that he had hung his father from the ceiling and that the cobwebs would dissolve on their own in about two hours, she didn't feel sorry for her old man at all; instead, she laughed heartily.
Gwen and Toby thought the same thing: let her sheriff father, who only knew how to chase criminals and completely disregarded the difference in strength between the two sides and his own safety, hang from the ceiling and reflect on his actions and learn a lesson!
Even after getting off the Ferris wheel, Gwen took Toby to the haunted house to see his father hanging there.
This made Sheriff Stacy, who was already feeling awkward hanging from the ceiling, even more embarrassed when she saw her daughter and her daughter's boyfriend arrive!
Gwen had no intention of helping her father down; instead, she called over the other police officers in the amusement park who were still searching for the lizardman and were completely unaware that he had been dealt with and taken away.
Sheriff Stacy, now hanging from the ceiling, was completely dumbfounded.
He went from being watched by two people to being watched by all his subordinates.
After the other officers arrived and made sure her father wouldn't have any further mishaps, Gwen took Toby's hand and left, humming a little tune.
Due to the police evacuation and lockdown, the amusement park is currently closed to visitors.
So after leaving the haunted house, Toby and Gwen went straight to the restaurant and had a pretty meal that girls love.
Of course, Toby ate enough for three people.
And I was only 70% full.
It has to be said that, apart from being pretty, pretty fans really have no redeeming qualities whatsoever...
The couple's original plan was to buy a new car in the morning, have fun at the amusement park until the afternoon, grab a bite to eat at the amusement park for lunch, and then go for the nice meal that Toby owed Gwen in the evening.
As for the evening, that was something the two of them kept to themselves.
But plans can't keep up with changes, because the lizardman and Gwen's father's intrusion caused the amusement park tour to end before noon.
This gave the two an unplanned afternoon off.
After all, Toby can't just skip the afternoon phase and go straight into the evening phase with Gwen, can he?
I think... right?
Clearly, even after twenty years, Toby still hasn't gotten used to America's openness.
Who says you can't do things you'd do in the evening in the afternoon?
