Chapter 318: Result
Chapter 318: Result
Under everyone’s watchful eyes, Li Wei was led away alone by the Grand Elder.
A buzz of discussion erupted among the crowd.
They were all talking about Li Wei’s score.
Some thought he had cheated and the Grand Elder was taking him to be punished.
Others believed his score was so outstanding that the Grand Elder was giving him a private commendation.
All sorts of speculation ran rampant.
Conspiracy theories sprang up one after another.
But no matter how heated the discussions outside became, they couldn’t affect the people inside another room.
The Grand Elder led Li Wei into a room.
In the center of the room was a long table, with only a single candle lit in the middle.
The surroundings were dim, making it impossible to see the figures clearly.
The Grand Elder said, "Hall Master, Vice Hall Master, I’ve brought Li Wei."
Hearing this, Li Wei looked up.
He subconsciously assumed the Hall Master of the Storm Hall had come to cause trouble for him.
After all, Bucer had told him that Laurent’s uncle was the Hall Master of the Storm Hall.
Although he hadn’t paid it much mind at the time, it had been lingering in the back of his mind.
As for being persecuted by the Elemental Tower, Li Wei wasn’t afraid.
He held a trump card with Legendary Level combat power, which gave him confidence.
At this moment, Li Wei appeared calm and composed.
A voice echoed from the darkness—it had to be the Hall Master the Grand Elder had mentioned.
"Li Wei, have you been to the depths of the Endless Maze?"
Hearing the question, Li Wei froze for a moment.
’This isn’t about my score?’
He quickly recovered and nodded. "Yes, I have."
"What did you see there?" the Hall Master asked.
Li Wei answered truthfully.
Finally, he said, "The Endless Maze is a Divine Prison. Its depths hold countless powerful and terrifying monsters, some of whom are strong enough to rival a Divine Spirit."
The Hall Master nodded. "Mm, very good."
"Don’t tell anyone about the Divine Prison or the depths of the Endless Maze. The external impact would not be good," the Hall Master instructed.
Li Wei nodded in agreement. "Yes, of course. I understand."
"Alright, that’s all. You may leave," the Hall Master said.
Li Wei paused, hesitated for a moment, then asked, "What about my score?"
The Hall Master replied, "There’s no problem with your score. However, no one will be able to use this loophole next time. We will be patching the exploit within the Endless Maze."
Li Wei breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank you, Hall Master."
"Then I’ll take my leave."
Li Wei and the Grand Elder walked out of the room.
As they walked, Li Wei remarked, "The Hall Master doesn’t seem to favor his relatives that much after all. He’s quite fair and just."
The Grand Elder asked, confused, "What do you mean?"
Li Wei gave the Grand Elder a surprised look. "You didn’t know the Hall Master is Laurent’s uncle?"
The Grand Elder was exasperated. He explained, "You’re mistaken. The ones you just met were the Hall Master and Vice Hall Master of the Hall of Truth. Laurent’s uncle is the Hall Master of the Storm Hall."
Li Wei’s expression froze, and he felt a little awkward.
’Wait, the Vice Hall Master of the Hall of Truth?’
’The big shot from the Hall of Truth who’s been helping me was there too?’
Li Wei was suddenly struck by a sense of a missed opportunity.
He had always wanted to meet the Vice Hall Master of the Hall of Truth.
After all, according to Hobbes and Fang Lide, the Vice Hall Master had always held him in high regard.
He was said to value him greatly.
Otherwise, there was no way he could have had such a comfortable time in the Hall of Truth.
How could an ordinary member of the Hall of Truth get away with slacking off like Li Wei did?
He only showed up at the Hall of Truth every now and then.
He would often disappear for half a month, not visiting the Hall of Truth even once.
He would have been kicked out of the Hall of Truth long ago.
The only reason Li Wei could be so willful was because he had someone powerful watching over him.
Seeing Li Wei return safely, everyone looked curious, wanting to know what had just happened.
The Grand Elder announced the end of the final exam.
"Li Wei, Orpheus, Ateskin, the three of you will participate in the Purple Level Class assessment shortly."
"If you pass the assessment, you can join the Purple Level Class."
The three whose names were called showed expressions of excitement and anticipation.
Laurent’s face was filled with indignation.
He stepped forward and shouted, "Grand Elder, is there really no problem with Li Wei’s score?"
Everyone looked at him, then at the Grand Elder.
The same question was on everyone else’s mind.
Li Wei’s score was simply too outrageous.
No one had ever earned so many Points.
The Grand Elder glanced at Laurent, then addressed the crowd loudly, "After an investigation by the upper echelons of the Elemental Tower, it has been determined that Li Wei did not cheat. His score complies with the rules of the final exam."
Hearing this, some remained unconvinced, while others were relieved.
Laurent, utterly bewildered, asked, "How could he get so many Points?"
"That doesn’t follow the examination Rules!"
The Grand Elder didn’t look at him and said, "That is a testament to Li Wei’s own ability. If you want to know how he did it, you can ask him yourself."
Everyone turned to look at Li Wei.
Li Wei didn’t even turn his head.
’It’s pointless to tell anyone else. The Grand Elder already said it.’
’The Hall of Truth will patch the bug in the Endless Maze soon, so no one will be able to farm points this way anymore.’
Li Wei, Orpheus, and Ateskin followed the Grand Elder to the location for the Purple Level Class assessment.
The rest of the crowd was left to wait for the class placement results.
Even if the three of them couldn’t get into the Purple Level Class, they would at least make it into the Blue Level Class.
That much was certain.
After Li Wei left, everyone shifted their attention to the new class placements.
This would determine their Cultivation resources for the coming year.
It was extremely important to every one of them.
"We’re here. Go on in."
The Grand Elder brought the three of them to a door.
Li Wei was the first to enter, followed by Orpheus, with Ateskin entering last.
The Grand Elder stood outside and did not enter.
The Purple Level Class assessment was overseen by a dedicated Elder.
Even the Grand Elder could not interfere.
Li Wei found himself in a corridor.
Looking ahead, the corridor stretched out of sight, seemingly endless.
"Where are we?"
Orpheus asked.
Ateskin stood in place, looking around in confusion.
’Where is this so-called trial?’
Li Wei gazed into the depths of the corridor, his heart stirring slightly.
He realized the trial had already begun.
Without a second thought, Li Wei started walking down the corridor.
As he walked, he carefully observed the murals on both sides of the corridor.
He discovered that the murals seemed to record the world’s past history.
Every major turning point in the world’s history was engraved on the walls.
Humanity’s first grasp of Extraordinary Power.
The birth of the first human Professional.
The appearance of the first Mage.
The creation of the first Magic.
...
The first appearance of a Divine Spirit before the world.
The establishment of the Divine Sect.
The Epic wars between humanity and other races.
The birth of the Human Empire.
The rise and fall of the Empire over thousands of years.
The rise and fall of Mages.
...
The history of the world unfolded before Li Wei.
He couldn’t understand many of the murals, only getting the general idea.
He wasn’t a historian, after all.
’What exactly is the test?’
