Chapter 92 Wasted Efforts
Chapter 92 Wasted Efforts
Idelia's obedience wasn't solely due to Elhesen's wariness; she was also taking advantage of the situation to see where Elhesen's home was.
Time at the Order of the Order is limited, and both of them have studies to attend to, so she felt she had to make use of her other free time as well.
She followed closely behind Al-Hysen, observing the surrounding scenery, intending to rely on her exceptional memory to memorize the route to his house.
The more she looked, the more something seemed off. Although all the buildings in Sumeru City were of the same style and looked pretty much the same, this place just felt so familiar—
"Hmm!"
Idelia's thoughts were interrupted when Elhesen stopped and turned to look at her.
Idelia couldn't dodge in time and crashed straight into his chest. Her delicate nose immediately turned red, and tears welled up in her eyes from the pain.
Before she could even process why Alhesen had suddenly stopped, she instinctively covered her nose and complained, "Why do you look so thin, yet your muscles are so hard?"
Elhesen: ...
He selectively ignored the question, simply saying, "We've arrived."
"Huh? We're here?" Idelia immediately perked up, forgetting the earlier surprise, and curiously looked around.
Her expression quickly shifted from excitement to hesitation: "...Is this...my house?"
Al-Hysen stared at her for a long time: "I'd rather believe that the collision just now caused you to lose your memory than imagine someone not recognizing their own home."
Idelia blushed belatedly, and gave him an awkward smile.
The main problem was that this wasn't a route she usually took, and she had preconceived notions that someone like Al-Hysen wouldn't have the habit of escorting female companions home, so she inevitably misunderstood.
Of course, Idelia dared not let Elhesen know about these arrangements.
She thanked him softly, "Thank you for taking me home."
Al-Hysen nodded, responded to her farewell, and then turned and left.
"Wait, wait!" Did Idelia called out to him again.
Under Elhesen's blatantly inquisitive gaze, Idelia realized his patience was about to run out. Forget her coyness and asked bluntly, "By the way, where do you live?"
Idelia was not surprised that Elhesen knew her address. After all, for the convenience of notifying each other during rest periods, the addresses of positions like the Grand Secretary were often public, and anyone who wanted to find out could do so quickly.
Although her original plan failed, she did not give up on finding out where Elhesen lived. After much thought, she realized that the only way to find out was to ask him in person.
The thirst for an answer in her eyes seemed genuine, and Al-Hysen could almost imagine how he would be harassed if he refused.
Compared to the potential risks of telling her, the immediate crisis facing Elhesen needed to be addressed more urgently.
He readily gave us the location of his home.
Idelia's warm yellow eyes shone brightly as she smiled and said, "It's not far! How about we go to class at the Order Academy together tomorrow?"
Before Elhesen could answer, Idelia, as if afraid he would refuse, shouted "It's decided!" and ran away.
El-Heisen sighed.
...Perhaps he should reassess the potential risks of giving her his address.
*
Idelia knew exactly what Elhesen was thinking, but since he hadn't rejected her in front of her, she pretended not to know. After all, how could she win someone over if she wasn't a little shameless?
Idelia opened the book "How to Win Over Your Crush," looked at the line on the inside page, blushed, nodded, and decided to engrave this sentence in her heart and carry it through from today onwards.
She patted her flushed cheeks and whispered to herself, "I have to try harder! It's so uninspiring to always blush!"
Idelia paused for a moment, waiting for the heat on her face to subside before continuing to roll over.
She read quickly and soon grasped the general content of the book, selecting the easiest point: "To win a lover's heart, you must first win their stomach... How true."
In that case, she'd bring Elhesen a homemade breakfast tomorrow morning, even though she'd never tried it before, but she remembered there were cooking books in the study.
Idelia thought about it more and more and felt that this was a genius idea. Satisfied, she closed the book and went to wash up.
*
Al-Hysen tried to avoid the so-called school-to-school proposal by getting up early, but unfortunately, his plan was guessed.
When he left home half an hour earlier than usual, Idelia, dressed neatly, was already standing at his door. She had been waiting for who knows how long, and was so bored that she just stared blankly at the street.
Upon seeing him, Idelia's eyes lit up, and she wanted to greet him, but as soon as she opened her mouth, she sneezed loudly because of the cold morning wind.
"Uh, I should have worn an extra layer..." She was a little frustrated by her brief embarrassment, but quickly cheered herself up and handed him the paper bag.
Elhesen did not accept it rashly.
Idelia simply shoved the things into her hand: "Don't worry, it's nothing weird, just two sandwiches, breakfast I brought especially for you!"
Al-Hysen's lips moved, but before he could speak, someone beat him to it.
"It was my own choice! Even if it was a waste of time, that's my business, and besides, it's not a waste of time at all in my opinion." Idelia said righteously, cutting off everything he wanted to say. "Consider it a return gift for taking me home yesterday!"
Al-Hysen raised an eyebrow: "Perhaps you've misunderstood. I don't care what you're planning to do. I just wanted to say that I've already had breakfast."
He never deprives himself of food, and his appetite is no exception. He always eats on time and in a healthy manner, and he naturally eats before going out.
Idelia: Huh?
She was stunned, clearly not expecting that the surprise she had given would turn into a shock.
Al-Hysen remained calm, but his words were as incisive as ever: "Prior communication is far more effective than self-pity."
Idelia looked listless, snatched the paper bag back, and took a big bite of the sandwich she had specially gotten up early to make, as if venting her anger.
Elhesen clearly enjoyed her dejected look, a slight smile playing on his lips.
Idelia didn't notice his little expression and followed behind him, dragging her feet as they walked towards the Order of the Church.
Because of the blow she suffered that morning, Idelia was unable to recover for a long time. She numbly followed her muscle memory to walk to the classroom, and did not even notice that Elhesen, who should have parted ways with her at this time, had not left, but sat not far from her after she took her seat.
It wasn't until soon after that the annoying Unar arrived in the classroom, and his words, which he had intended to use to provoke her, were abruptly cut off like a crow being suddenly choked, that Idelia was finally awakened.
She followed Unar's incredulous gaze with a puzzled look and saw Elhesen sitting elegantly beside her with his legs crossed.
Idelia couldn't help but rub her eyes.
Is she dreaming? Isn't Elhesen an epistemologist? How did he end up in their causal school's classroom?
Al-Hysen remained silent about their reactions, calmly flipping through his book.
