Chapter 91 Suicide Seeker
"Never again—"
"There are no more games."
"What do you mean?"
"As the literal meaning suggests, a bat."
The clown seemed somewhat dazed...
He looked like he was dreaming.
"No kidnapping, no 'either/or' choice, let me guess... You thought I'd kidnap Robin?"
"You think the place Robin just stepped into is a trap?"
He laughed mockingly.
"I anticipated all the worst-case scenarios and made all the necessary preparations."
Chen Tao said.
The voices of Deadshot, Cheshire Cat, and Killer Croc came through his headset:
"Batman? There's nothing here. No Joker's henchmen, no traps that suddenly appear. This isn't what you expected."
"I know, old tricks." The Joker sat on the ground, looking somewhat sullen, leaning against Bane, who was kneeling on the ground, laughing silently.
"I bet the Robin who went in was the Clayman in disguise. Since that incident, you won't let those children get hurt again..."
He looked at himself with self-pity and said, "It's like you no longer like me."
The Joker looked up, his usually manic face now calm and strangely sincere: "So we're not playing games anymore, Batman."
"No more giant laughing gas balloons, no more bouncing dinosaurs, freaks and circuses, no more roses, no more beautiful fireworks and birthday parties."
He said:
"The matter is simple: Metropolis will be destroyed, tens of millions will die, and you will kill me... You must not hesitate."
Chen Tao slammed his hand on his headset: "Everyone, please—"
Lucius's voice rang out even faster: "Dozens of missiles detected taking off from Gotham City!!!"
Cold sweat broke out on his face: "They're scattered throughout Gotham!"
He jumped up from his seat, pounced on the computer, and yelled at the communication device.
"Poison Ivy, tell me their trail!"
Meanwhile, on the other side of Gotham, Poison Ivy, with her flowing red hair, sat beneath a massive hemispherical machine.
This technology comes from the Mad Hatter Teach, a mind projection device that can read the smallest and most distant signals from neurons in the human brain and then convert them into visible information.
"I'm checking! Don't rush me, I need time!"
On the other side, Lucius looked up at the small dots rising from all corners of the city on the computer screen.
"You'd better hurry!"
He said, "Our detector can only determine the general trajectory. We need more detailed data—the deviation should ideally not exceed one centimeter, the more precise the better, and we absolutely cannot miss a single one."
He flipped open the transparent cover of a red button on the table beside him and placed his hand on it: "Hurry, Poison Ivy! I need the most precise numbers before launching all the interceptor missiles!"
"Shut up, I'm investigating!"
Poison Ivy roared in response, "Silence!"
Lucius saw some of the dozens of missiles falling on the screen; the jamming devices they had deployed in the city had been somewhat effective…
But no one dared to gamble that the real nuclear warhead among those dozens of missiles happened to be one of the ones that fell.
He suppressed his anxiety.
Although Batman had told him that if there was a worst-case scenario, it was bound to happen, and although he had mentally prepared himself before things started, he still felt his hands shaking.
He suddenly grabbed his wrist with his other hand, forcibly stopping the trembling.
This hand will be used to press the button in a little while, so it can't shake, it can't shake...
He said into the communicator, "Batman! Take the jammer I gave you. If the missiles aren't completely blocked—"
"No!"
The clown lunged at Chen Tao and grabbed his leg: "Don't do that, Bat!"
He shouted loudly, laughing maniacally with sorrow, "Don't go! I've given so much for you! Kill me now! If I could die by your hand, that would be the happiest thing, the most beautiful ending for me!"
For a fleeting moment, Chen Tao did indeed want to chop off the clown's head with a single blow.
This should be quick; all it takes is to condense the blade and then gently scrape—
But he forcefully suppressed that impulse.
It wasn't because he didn't want to kill Iron Rule, but because he was afraid that if he killed the Joker so openly, he might inhale some of the Joker's poison gas and turn into the Batman Who Laughs—who knew what the Joker might be hiding in his body?
If he were to kill someone, he would stuff them into the shredder invented by Lucius.
As for whether he hesitated... not at all. Neither the Riddler's dark bondage theory, nor the Joker's bad day, nor Batman's original slippery slope theory could bind him.
Chen Tao knew very well that he wasn't a madman, and he would never become some kind of shameless scum or tyrant just because he killed the Joker. The Joker wasn't special; he was never special...
He had already murdered the other person once.
"open!"
He kicked the clown in the face: "You filthy trash, you pervert, you're disgusting! Don't come near me, let go!"
"No—please, let it all end here!"
The clown cried out, "I'm the one who's the special one. They all say you killed—"
His voice trailed off, swallowing the rest of his words, and Chen Tao's heart stirred slightly.
The clown continued shouting as if nothing had happened:
"This isn't fair! We've been together for so long, and I should be the first person you wanted to murder! I should be the one who started your downfall! Not someone else, I'm insanely jealous!"
"The first batch of missiles has been located!" Lucius, looking at the bright spot marked with a red dot on the computer screen through the headset, slammed his fist on the red button.
"emission!"
"Batman!" he said, "You need to be ready to fly out and intercept any that might be missed—"
"I know!"
Chen Tao kicked the clown in the face again: "Get away from me, you disgusting thing..."
"No, I'm not disgusting, I'm your favorite—"
Chen Tao lost his patience.
Silvery-white particles shimmered, followed by the Bane Bat's thick fist.
He clenched his fist, and the next moment green light emanated from his arm. The monstrous strength and claws of the Bat Dragon combined with the Bane Bat, sending the Joker flying backward in one blow, splattering him on the ground like a cockroach.
Chen Tao could probably control his strength and not kill him.
The Joker's attitude corroborated some of his guesses, but now is not the time to think about those things.
Often, the simplest and most direct plans are the most effective. If the Joker were to resort to some petty tricks like kidnapping Robin, Chen Tao could handle it with ease because he could anticipate them.
But to launch directly...
This was a test of Chen Tao's prior preparations; if the preparations were insufficient, he would fail immediately!
"I'll be right there." He turned to Lucius on the communicator and said, "I'll be there very soon—"
"Batman!"
Chen Tao turned his head and saw the clown trembling as he got up from the ground. His massive muscles burst through his clothes, exposing his pale body with red skin holes to the air.
Chen Tao's face darkened: "Titan Venom."
"I am your favorite court jester—"
"Sorry, Lucius, I may need another three minutes."
Chen Tao said, "Just three minutes."

Meanwhile, the Bat Cave.
Edward Nigma, the Riddler, is locked in a transparent cell by a man. He holds a stack of files in his hands and sits in the corner, as if forgotten by the whole world.
But he quickly stood up and walked to the tempered glass of the cell.
"God," he said.
"It's you, Joker."
